Dubai has set a world record with the tallest landmark sign in the world, the Hollywood-style Hatta mountain marker. The 19.28-meter-tall sign, located on top of the Hajar Mountains, is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to attract more tourism, business, and investment to the area. The sign, which is taller than the famous Hollywood sign, measures 13.7 meters and lights up the night sky. The Hatta Master Development Plan, part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, aims to attract more tourists, businesses, and investment.
In October 2021, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled a vision for Hatta, which includes a beach, a new lake, a cable railway, several hotels, and 120km of bicycle paths. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, has ordered a supreme committee to oversee the project. Dubai Tourism launched a campaign called “The Highlands of Dubai” in December to highlight the mountainous exclave’s natural beauty.
New developments at Hatta aim to enhance residents’ well-being and create new experiences for visitors. The Hatta Souq, designed by Sheikh Mohammed, features seven shops, six indoor and seven outdoor kiosks, 42 sales platforms, a large store, eight food carts, a children’s playground, outdoor seating and green spaces, prayer rooms, and public facilities. The Hatta Beach Project, designed as a year-round tourist destination, will feature the Crystal Lagoon, an artificial lake with a beach area and watersports.
