Exciting news is on the horizon for Dubai Metro! A brand new line, known as the Blue Line, is set to transform the city’s transportation system. Unlike the current Metro Lines, this 30-kilometer long line will feature a unique combination of overground and underground stations.
The Blue Line will bridge the gap between the existing Red and Green Lines, providing seamless connectivity across the city. What makes this line even more intriguing is that approximately 15.5km will be located underground, while the remaining 14.5km will be above ground.
This ambitious project will introduce a total of 14 stations, with seven elevated stations and five underground stations. Among these, there will be five underground stations, including an interchange station, and two elevated transfer stations connecting to Centrepoint and Creek stations.
To support Dubai’s growing population, estimated to reach 5.8 million by 2040, the expansion project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. With the aim of meeting the future demand for infrastructure, this initiative strives to ensure that 80% of residents’ daily needs can be accessed within a 20-minute travel radius, whether by foot or bicycle.
The development of integrated service centers and a concentration of population density around mass transit stations are part of the project’s strategy to create a more accessible and efficient urban landscape. As Dubai continues to evolve, the Blue Line will play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity and facilitating convenient transportation for its residents.
