The next public holiday in the UAE is eagerly anticipated, as people are already counting down the days. The recent Eid Al Adha break provided an extended six-day vacation for both the public and private sectors, making it the longest holiday of the year. But there won’t be much time to wait until the next holiday arrives.
In the UAE, the Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year, signifies the start of a new lunar year. Most Muslims observe the first day of Muharram as the beginning of the Islamic year. The exact date of the Islamic New Year will be determined by astronomers, and predictions suggest it may fall on Wednesday, July 19.
Regardless of the specific date, the UAE has already announced a public holiday for this occasion. In November of last year, the country’s media office disclosed all the public holiday dates for the entire year of 2023. As per their announcement, the Islamic New Year holiday will be observed on Friday, July 21. Making it another 3-day weekend before the end of this month.
